FAQ - NTPP

During the three days of a Pilgrimage weekend, participants form a small Christian community. They worship, study and share with one another while gaining a personal awareness of their faith and the joys and responsibilities that are a result of that faith. The purpose of Pilgrimage is for the participants to discover a new and exciting relationship with Christ and to encourage them to take this new-found relationship back to their home. It challenges and equips each local church member for Christian action in their local church, in their home, in their place of work and in their community.

The weekend is intended for those who already have faith and who seek continued growth in that faith and commitment. It is not designed to convert from unbelief to belief. The goal is to guide participants into an even closer and more personal relationship with Christ and to heighten their joy, deepen their faith and invigorate their life in Christ. Pilgrimage intends to return the participants to all the environments in which they have influence and to affect those environments in a Christian manner. Men and women - single and married persons are all welcome.

The weekend is only the beginning. What you experience during the weekend is intended to be taken and put into practice in local congregations and communities. You will be supported by many others who have attended a Pilgrimage weekend. If you chose, you will have the opportunity to meet weekly in small groups to reinforce one another and to share the Christian experience. Larger groups meet from time to time to share the joy and fellowship of their faith. The objective of Pilgrimage is to inspire, challenge and equip each local church member to Christian action in their local church, in their home, in their place of work and in their community.

The cost for the weekend is $225.00 per person. The amount covers lodging, meals and use of the retreat center. Since the staff pay their own expenses and much of the material used during the weekend is contributed by the local Pilgrimage community, costs are kept to a minimum. It is the desire of the NTPP Council that any qualified candidate feeling the call to attend a Pilgrimage weekend should not be hindered by the cost of the weekend. Full or partial scholarships are available on a confidential basis. Contact the NTPP Registrar for more information.

North Texas Celebration (NTC) is the YOUTH VERSION of NTPP for 9th through 12th graders. It is formatted similarly to Pilgrimage, but is a day shorter and led by a youth staff made up of former participants. Many youth have found NTC to be a transformative part of their journey as they grow in their faith. At a North Texas Celebration weekend, youth will experience God's unfailing love for them through small groups, worship, and activities while also having a lot of fun!

Weekends are held twice a year in early August and late December at Lake Lavon Camp and Conference Center. After attending once as a participant, youth may choose to return to future weekends as a volunteer staff member. Every weekend is chaperoned by "Moms and Dads," volunteer adult staffers who usually have prior experience with Pilgrimage and/or Celebration.

Most alumni are happy to talk to potential participants and/or staffers and share how North Texas Celebration has impacted their lives!
